This Event Succeeded at Debunking Egyptian Beauty Myths in the Most Stylish Way
On September 17, Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino’s Verdi Salon witnessed a very floral makeover as beauty giants Braun reigned supreme.
The Zamalek hotel gathered the city’s movers and shakers for one of a kind event to debunk popular beauty myths that need to stop seeing the light of day. Consequently, dermatology professor Hannah El-Khaky was present among the panel, alongside plastic and hand surgery specialist George Zaher, beauty expert Hossam El Maraghy and fashion photographer Nouran Khalifa.
The beautiful Sally Abdel Salam moderated the ever so stylish affair, and took in questions from attendees and started a much needed discussion with the panel. “Halawa is better than any other method,” a common myth that was easily negated when it was revealed that halawa, indeed, can burn and be quite harmful to the skin.
“You have to wait till your hair grows to remove it,” was one of the many myths the panel had to put an end to. Their answer was simply: “This doesn’t apply when using Braun’s Silk-epil, because it removes the smallest hairs of up to 0.5mm long. So, in-between days no longer exist.”
Another myth that was debunked was the common misconception that epilation is painful — on the contrary, it is easy and safe, thanks to the Silk-epil. Why, you ask? Because it creates a convenient option of epilating under water as the device is waterproof. The wet/dry option also eliminates pain significantly.
After invalidating every single myth from the myth board, using new hair removal tips and tricks — the end of the discussion was welcomed by a luxurious dinner with an Instagrammable a Nile view that would make every floral-obsessed person squeal. A competition, also, took place at the event where attendees were encouraged to take photos to win massive gifts. In addition, there was a raffle-draw where 15 lucky individuals won Braun products.
Our favorite part of the night, however, was the actual presence of full-time queen, part-time singer, Simone — and voluptuous belly dancer Dina Taalat.
Yes, many Insta Stories screaming the names of the aforementioned two were taken.
