The UAE Is Picking a New Logo, and With Every Vote Cast, the Environment Benefits
To celebrate a prosperous past and a promising future, the United Arab Emirates is launching a new brand for itself to share with the world the story of how the nation came to be, and what it is going to become in the years to follow.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and a number of other leaders took to Twitter to announce the campaign.
It has been revealed earlier this year that 2020 will be the ‘Year of Preparation’, wherein the Emirates will prepare the path for the upcoming 50 years. Therefore, a new logo representing the country for the next half-century had to be picked. The best thing about this is that for every vote cast, the government will plant a tree! All participants have to do is go to Nation Brand to cast a vote for one of three shortlisted options.
The campaign started with the UAE picking seven designs from each Emirate and then shortlisting three for the final vote. Each of the logos represents part of the Emirates’ rich heritage.
The first option depicts the beauty of Arabic calligraphy with further inspiration from the desert’s restless dunes and the gulf’s relentless waves.
The second entry shows the map of the UAE drawn with seven stripes in the country’s flag colors, representing unity.
Finally, just like a palm tree withstands the storms, the third design symbolizes how the people stand united in the face of adversities.
