This Thursday, January 30, a thrilling fusion of Korean tradition and modern pop culture is set to take place at the Korean Cultural Centre in Abu Dhabi. The “Year of the Blue Snake”, a Korean Lunar celebration of the New Year, is set to offer a unique, Squid Game-inspired experience alongside timeless customs.
Round and Round: A Squid Game
The highlight of the evening will be the “Round and Round”, inspired by the viral Mingle Game from Squid Game Season 2.
Get ready to fight tooth and nail to stay in the game and enjoy the ominous music that will chill you to your bones. While the competition will be just as brutal as in Squid Game, the stakes are merely walking out with a bruised ego, with no flying bullets involved.
Unleash your competitive side and get a feel of Korean children’s games.
Craft Your Own Fortune Pouch: Traditional Korean Workshops
Embrace your creative side with hands-on workshops where you can craft a bokjumeoni fortune pouch to turn your luck around.
You’ll also get to create your vision board by designing your own personalized folding screen to visualize your goals for the year. These interactive activities will immerse you in Korean culture and help you start the year with a positive mindset.
The Taste of Korean Cuisine
No celebration is complete without food, and this event is serving up authentic Korean delicacies. Enjoy a steaming bowl of tteokguk (rice cake soup), a dish traditionally eaten during Seollal that will get your health up to a ten.
K-Beauty DIY
With Korean beauty products and tips taking over TikTok, you will get a backstage pass on how these beauty products are created. You will even get to go home with your creations.
The “Year of the Blue Snake” celebration offers a one-of-a-kind chance to dive into both the rich traditions of Seollal and the thrilling world of Squid Game.
Whether you’re crafting your fortune pouch, indulging in delicious Korean food, or testing your skills in a high-energy game, it’s an event that promises fun, culture, and a touch of excitement.
