We’ve been hearing about an international airport for years that will open in Sheikh Zayed in Summer 2018. Guess what, we’re less than a month away from the inauguration of the brand new Sphinx International Airport! The airport is built west of Cairo on the 45th km on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road in Giza governorate. It is constructed by the Egyptian Consultancy Company to reduce pressure on Cairo International Airport.

Sherif Fathy, the Minister of Civil Aviation, stated: “the airport will serve tourists aiming to stop in the country to visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the Great Pyramids of Giza.”

It is expected to expand to cargo services in the future. The ministry is also building a new airport in Katameya, that will serve visitors heading to New Cairo and the new administrative capital.

WE SAID THIS: We hope the new project positively impacts the rates of tourists visiting Om el Dunya.
