‘Sheikh Jackson’ Makes Waves at Toronto International Film Festival 2017, and We’re Super Proud
After the great attention Amr Salama’s latest production, Sheikh Jackson, has received, the movie has created a huge buzz over the past few days. After its selection as an Academy Awards contender in the best foreign-language film category, Sheikh Jackson was screened last weekend for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
As the film rocked the theaters during its world premiere, the amount of positive feedback was unbelievable and sensational, resulting in a full house during the second screening (watch above).
The film has also gained so much recognition from the Western media. Director, Amr Salama; superstar, Ahmed El Fishawy; and the rising star, Ahmed Malek have made a special appearance on CP24 Breakfast, prior to the movie premiere. Not just that, but the film was given several film reviews including one by The Hollywood Reporter. “Sheikh Jackson still emerges as an endearingly offbeat and humane parable about the liberating power of forgiveness, starting with yourself”, they said.
The journey doesn’t stop here. Sheikh Jackson will still make its way to Gouna Film Festival’s (GFF) first edition as the opening film on Friday the 22nd of this month.
We hope to see more and more promising productions in the Egyptian film industry that would proudly level up to an international level just like Sheikh Jackson did.
