Shang Palace: All You Can Eat Dim Sum

Hotel-owned restaurant chains are often overlooked by most people. They usually serve traditional dishes at high prices, have tacky decor, and reserved for the hotel guests who’d rather be less adventurous while eating abroad.

The Shang Palace is a flagship property of the Shangri-La Hotel group, with 39 global branches, some of which are awarded Michelin stars. The restaurant produces authentic flavors of the Sichuan, Cantonese, and Yunnan cuisines.

And that’s not all! At the Shangri-La Abu Dhabi, recently launched an ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT dim sum lunch that lasts for 2:30 hours. Yes, you read that right; order as much as you want of the high-end plates until you surrender. And the best part of it, it’s all for AED 115 ($32).

We couldn’t believe it, so, we had to go see for ourselves. We met with Executive Chef, He Jia, who walked us through the plethora of dim sum options and explained the technique behind each plate.

From soups to steamed dishes, dumplings to main dishes and desserts, nothing disappoints. Vegetarians, don’t fret, there is a wide variety of options to choose from.

The all you can eat menu is perfect for couples, large groups, corporate get-togethers, or even that gluttonous sole meal.

Our favorites were the river shrimp dumplings with Chili vinegar, the Kang Kong salad for vegans, steamed mussels, Chinese Lanzhou beef flavored hand-pulled noodles and for dessert, fresh mango and herb jelly in coconut milk, just to name a few.

WE SAID THIS: Trust us, at Shang Palace, your money will go a long way at that this lunch.
