Saudi Football Powerhouse Al-Nassr Pursuing Fernando Hierro as Sporting Director

Saudi Arabia has been transforming into a football all-stars magnet, having already attracted Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Karim Benzema to the Kingdom. Following in their footsteps, there are talks that Spanish football manager Fernando Hierro may be joining Al-Nassr.

According to a news outlet from Mexico, Al-Nassr is offering Hierro an impressive offer to join the team. The former Real Madrid player is currently the sporting director of Chivas in Liga MX.

If he ends up joining Al-Nassr, his role will be practically the same. He’ll become the sporting director who will help the team surpass Al-Hilal and compete for the AFC Champions League.

Negotiations are already underway between Al-Nassr and Hierro; this was confirmed by the Saudi Arabian outlet Al-Riyadiah. This comes after Al-Nassr wasn’t able to bring in Portuguese executive Miguel Rubero to the team.

Having Hierro direct the team will help propel it forward. He’s already got an impressive track record and was chosen by Chivas over foreign coaches such as Veljko Paunovic and Fernando Gago because of his rebuilding process.

For now, nothing is official, and we’ll just have to wait and see if Hierro and Al-Nassr will seal the deal.
