New Kids on the Block

Egyptian Accelerator Flat6Labs has recently graduated their 2nd cycle teams in last week’s Demo Day, at the Le Pacha boat on the Nile.

Start-up has been a very hot topic lately and Arab world is finally getting a piece of the cake. This industry has been witnessing such a massive boom the past few years, all thanks to the Venture Capitals (VCs) and Accelerators who have chosen to acknowledge the value of youth and entrepreneurship.

Flat6Labs is an internet start-up Accelerator that was founded by Sawari Ventures in partnership with the AUC Entrepreneurship & Innovation Program, to provide Seed Funding, office workspace, and mentorship to young teams with strong ideas that can potentially grow into scalable and profitable businesses.

On the Demo Day, each of the seven teams presented their ideas in front of 100+ attendees which included investors, media, and other parties. Below is a list of the teams that have just finished their cycle:

ASKNATIVE: A knowledge sharing social platform about travel, culture, and native knowledge that aims to bridge communication between travelers to a place and the natives of the designated place.
CROWDSWAY: A crowdsourcing platform for film, media and video professionals, where creatives can get hired and participate in content to win prizes.
ESHTERY: A new way of shopping using mobile applications, QR codes, NFC and Computer Vision technologies; the mobile app aims to replicate the offline shopping experience in an online format.
GYROLABS: GyroLabs is reinvinting the TV experience by bridging the gap between television and the Internet as well as direct communication between the TV and Smartphone.
NAFHAM: An online platform that provides educational content to knowledge seekers; providing crowdsourced videos explaining concepts usually taken in class using different approaches.
OGRA: A taxi calling service that aims to bring online flexibility to the world of transportation, allowing you to order a taxi through a phone app.
YADGET: Yadget is a social application for tagging places and real life objects and sticking content to them. People can find and share content about particular objects and locations by tagging and attaching digital content to them.
With that being said, it will be very exciting watching these companies grow in reach and experience!
WE SAID THIS: Do you have what it takes to be the next entrepreneur?
