Moroccan Soccer Star Hakim Ziyech Warms The Hearts Of Many After Donating World Cup Earnings To Charity

On the pitch, the Moroccan soccer player Hakim Ziyech is known as the “Wizard” for his excellent skills on the field as an attacking midfielder while off the pitch, he is known as a charitable individual who has captured the hearts of all Moroccans when it was announced that he will donate all his World Cup earnings to charity. He was able to amass a total sum of $277,575.90, all of which will be gifted to those in need in Morocco.

This wasn’t the first time that Ziyech planned to give away his soccer bonuses as ever since he joined the Atlas Lions back in 2015, he never accepted any money from playing for the Moroccan national team. Instead, the soccer star reportedly gave all his bonuses to charities as well as members of the team’s staff. His philanthropic work was an ever-present part of his career as even in 2019 he donated 185,000 pounds to cancer patients and beyond that, he also donated to amateur clubs and hospitals.

His story is one that will be remembered in football history not just for his philanthropic efforts but also for the fact that there was a small chance that he was not going to be part of the 2022 World Cup. Earlier this year, Ziyech announced his retirement from International football, stating that he will never return after Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic kicked him out of the national team, disallowing him to play for the Africa Cup Of Nations. Halilhodzic was critical of Ziyech’s demeanor and behavior but his claims did not fall through and the coach was eventually fired and replaced with new head coach, Walid Regragui who moved quickly to return Ziyech back to the team, an invitation that Ziyech took with open arms.

Today, the world is still in fervor and celebration for what the Atlas Lions accomplished. Their historic win is not the only event that captivated the hearts of millions but instead, its the heartwarming instances captured by Ziyech’s philanthropic efforts and Hakimi and Boufal’s affectionate moments with their mothers that will continue to hold a special place among the soccer community and the world at large.
