Marwa Fayed’s Toy Run Wins MBC’s Humanitarian Project of the Year
At a ceremony in Dubai yesterday, Marwa Fayed’s Toy Run was awarded MBC Hope’s Humanitarian Project of the Year. The annual competition spotlights worthy regional initiatives that empower, strengthen and foster Arab youth.
Marwa Fayed’s Toy Run is a seemingly simple yet powerful example of a community spanning continents coming together for an inspiring and joyful cause.
Started by Marwa Fayed in 2010, what was then known as Cairo’s Toy Run is a volunteer-based project that collects and distributes toys to orphanages around Egypt. After Fayed’s passing in Jun. 2013, those who loved her continued the initiative in her name.
“Thanks to everyone who supported Marwa’s vision and ours. Thanks to the amazing volunteers who helped us grow into 5 countries in record time. With your help this will be just the beginning of a long journey that will one day spread joy to millions of children around the world,” Omar Samra, Fayed’s husband, proudly wrote in an Instagram post.
To get involved, join the Facebook group to find drop-off locations for toy donations and for updates about upcoming opportunities to participate in toy distribution.
“For all of us busy bees who have no time to do some soul feeding, this is a chance to be part of something great with minimal effort. This is a simple way for you to do something great for a lot of needy children and a small toy (even just one) that you might throw away or disregard can seriously make their day.” – Marwa Fayed
WE SAID THIS: Marwa remains a special part of the Scoop Empire/Nineteen84 Management family. Congratulations to the MFTR team for the well-deserved recognition.
