Lost In Florence: My Favorite Place

0

There are so many parts of Florence I haven’t discovered yet, but I think I’ve already found my favorite place in the city.

In every art book I’ve seen, I always see a picture of David Michelangelo’s statue, it was always something I thought I’d always see in books and on websites. Never have I thought that I would stand right in front of that statue, overlooking Florence.

But here I am, doing exactly that.

There’s a place up on a hill that overlooks Florence with it’s churches, buildings, the bridges over the river, and the hills beyond, it is known as the Piazzale Michelangelo.

This isn’t just a beautiful square that has a huge David statue in the middle, it is one of the most beautiful views my eyes have ever seen, and I have seen a lot! This is the perfect place to be, you lose track of time doing whatever the hell you want in the spectacular shade of the statue.

There are, of course, the annoying tourists who take pictures of every single thing around, but still, the place is soul candy. Especially at night, when the city light reflects on the river and it gets a bit chilly.

Even though I still haven’t learned Italian, or gotten a Vespa, or even passed my midterms,..I am content with where I am and for the first time, I feel like I’m in the right place at the right time.
