La3ibni W Ala3bek: Samaka Studio’s Project Showcases Some Serious Animation Skills!

We fell in love the minute we saw Samaka Studio’s fun short animated movie, La3ibni w Ala3bek (Play the Game). The Egyptian animation studio, Samaka Studio, is one of the fastest-growing animation studios in the MENA region, and they’re the masterminds behind this amazing piece of art.

The animated short movie tells four different stories in a funny and light-hearted manner, with one theme in common, that each story represents one of the games we used to play while we were younger! Each story is drawn in a completely different style that showcases the extent of the talent these guys have!

The film takes the viewer on a journey of intrigue and anticipation of the coming game as well as the unexpected reactions from the film’s characters. It’s a nostalgic ode to the childhood of every Egyptian, and how this childish spirit can give us all a lighter take on our daily lives. The film is directed by the studio’s very own Sandra Moneer, and they began producing it in 2018 and finished in 2020.

The film premiered during the first round of Animatex Animation Film Festival in November 2020, first at the French Institute in Cairo, and then at Startup Haus Cairo. The film will also soon be premiering internationally at Cardiff Animation Nights on December 10th.

WE SAID THIS: We’ll definitely be seeing Samaka Studio making waves real soon!
