In Pictures: Celebrating the Olive Harvest in the Middle East

From Iraq to Morocco, it’s olives everywhere. Starting mid-October, olive harvest season is all over the region. Mentioned in all Abrahamic religions, Olive trees are one of the most prominent symbols of the Middle East.

Levant countries are well-known for their high-quality olive trees, but did you know that the Arab Maghreb countries are also some of the largest producers of olive around the world?

In addition, olive oil is one worldly commodity. Some countries’s economies, such as that of Palestine’s rely solely on olives and the oils extracted from them.
