How to Immigrate to Canada from Egypt

Canada is welcoming over 1.2 million foreign nationals in the next three years as permanent residents. This is achievable due to the over 100 immigration programs available, and with so many pathways to choose from, the chances of you being eligible for at least one increases significantly.

If you’re an Egyptian resident who wants to start a new life in one of the best countries in the world, stay tuned, as in this article, you’ll learn how to immigrate to Canada from Egypt.

Canadian Immigration Options for Egyptians

There are many ways to move to Canada, as mentioned before. However, we’ll explore the three most popular programs to move and live in Canada as a permanent resident.

Canada is also chosen by many citizens who live in France because they already know the language spoken in Quebec, a large Canadian area.

Express Entry

Express Entry is an online immigration system that acts as one of the largest entry points for foreign skilled workers to become permanent residents. The Express Entry system will contribute to the Canadian government’s three-year immigration goal by issuing 332,750 Invitations to Apply (ITA). You can receive an ITA via three federal programs, as follows:

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

If you’re eligible for any of the above programs, you’ll get placed in a pool with other candidates. There, you’ll be given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score that will determine your ranking in the pool. Each Express Entry draw has a different CRS score to qualify for an invitation to apply. If you meet or score higher than the CRS cut-off score, you will receive an ITA. The maximum number of points achieved is 1,200.

Advantages of the Express Entry system include:

  • Having draws as frequent as every two weeks.
  • Processing time can be as quick as six months.
  • Everything is done online, which means it’s accessible to everyone.

Provincial Nominee Program

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is an agreement made between the government and local provinces of Canada. It allows the Canadian provinces to nominate immigrants who want to live and work in that particular province. To receive a provincial nomination, you’ll need to choose one of the 11 PNPs in Canada and apply for a nomination.

You have the choice of either applying directly to the province or via the Express Entry system.

Direct Application Process

The process is done through a paper application via mail or courier. This means there will be extra costs involved for you, and the waiting period for the application result can take anywhere from 15 to 19 months.

Express Entry Application Process

There are two options available:

  • Expression of Interest (EOI) – you can express interest in a specific province or territory when creating your online profile. This allows the province to select your profile directly from the Express Entry draw pool.
  • Apply through a Provincial Nominee Express Entry Stream – almost every province in Canada has an Express Entry stream along with a list of in-demand occupations.

Family Sponsorships

The Family Sponsorship program allows adult permanent residents or citizens to sponsor a relative or spouse for immigration to Canada. An individual can sponsor their spouse, partner, or dependent children if:

  • You’re at least 18 years old.
  • You’re a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
  • You’re able to prove that you’re not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability.
  • You can provide for the basic needs of any person you want to sponsor.

Sponsors need to make a promise that is known as an undertaking. This is to promise that they can take care of you financially. The ‘undertaking’ commits them to:

  1. Provide financial support when your family members become permanent residents.
  2. Repay any provincial social assistance your sponsored family might have received during that period.

Another agreement that needs to be made is the sponsorship agreement. This is a document that says the sponsor and their family being sponsored agree that:

  1. You, as a sponsor, will be providing for the basic needs of sponsored family members.
  2. The person being sponsored will make an effort to support themselves and their family members.

Another great advantage of the family sponsorship program is that you’ll be able to move to Canada as a Canadian permanent resident and do so without a job offer.
