History of Flavour: The Video Series Highlighting Egypt’s Rich Food Heritage
For the first time ever, Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities launched guided videos on the history of cooking in Egypt. And the best part about these videos is that they’re a mix of our two favorite things, food and Egyptian history!
The video series, “A History of Egyptian Flavours”, was produced in collaboration with Rawi Magazine, a periodical that specializes in Egyptian heritage. The videos, narrated by Mennat-Allah El Dorry, reflect the richness of Egyptian culinary history. El Dorry is an Archeologist, specialized in Egyptian food history. So far, there have been videos of Tiger Nuts, which were very popular in ancient Egypt, Lentils, the earliest known written recipe, and “The Tuffahiyya”, named after “tuffah” (apple).
Throughout Ramadan, a new video will be posted every Saturday at 5 pm. So stay tuned, and scroll down to watch the ones that have already been posted!
