From Authors to Astronauts, Here’s What You Missed From the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature has returned for its 12th edition this year to host the region’s biggest celebration of the written and spoken word. This year, the festival took place from the 4th of February till the 9th, offering all UAE fans a chance to meet and interact with world-famous authors, attend literary debates as well as workshops, and take part in different competitions.

The fair was a one of a kind experience dedicated to book enthusiasts and this year’s edition was definitely an unmissable event, especially because it brought people from different ages and backgrounds together with authors from across the world to promote education, debate and above all, the love of reading and writing. It also included an opportunity to meet-up with not only authors but also explorers and other great personalities such as the Managing Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, HE Jamal bin Huwaireb, an explorer who climbed Mountain Everest, Chris Bonington, and the first Emirati to travel to space, Hazzaa Al Mansoori.

The festival’s last day was actually dedicated to supporting all refugee children across the Middle East; a beautiful gesture for a great cause, and one that could not have come at a better time.

WE SAID THIS: It was a feast for book-lovers.
