Featuring Exclusive Scenes: A Look At The Arab Stars Joining The Crown’s Newest Season

The highly anticipated new season of the Crown is making its way to Netflix on November 9th. Its ten new episodes will not only be packed with the tantalizing British royal drama we know and love but will also include a star studded cast of Arab actors, making an appearance will be Egypt’s favorites Amir El Masry and Ahmed Ghozzi.

Taking a glimpse at Princess Diana’s love life, the new Arab cast members will play integral roles with strong connections to the loved Princess Diana’s love story with Egyptian Dodi El Fayed. Amir El Masry will take on the role of the young Mohammed El Fayed, Dodi’s father who was a British-Egyptian billionaire while Ahmed Ghozzi will play the role of Adnan Khashoggi, a Saudi billionaire and notorious arms dealer.

Such big roles are nothing new to El Masry who started his acting career when he was just 17 years old. Born in Cairo but raised in London, the British-Egyptian actor kicked off his career by playing roles in Egyptian films one of which won him an Oscar for ‘Best Young Actor’ in 2009. From there, his career only flourished as he began to take on roles in big British TV series including The Night Manager and The State, even starring in big Hollywood features including his role as Commander Trach in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Ahmed Ghozzi is also no stranger to the big screen making his acting and Netflix debut at the end of 2016 by starring in a show called ‘Safe’. The year after, the 24 year old actor returned to Egypt and made a bigger name for himself by starring in three big shows during the Ramadan season of 2021 which included the popular “El Ekhetyar 2” and “Take Care Of Zizi”.

With new cast members also comes a change in this season’s thematic focus with the fifth installment placing a lens on a tumultuous time for the royal family. The 1990s was a time when the family was under public scrutiny over the turbulent marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. The drama only escalated and intensified from there as the couple’s every move and word was under the watchful eye of media houses all over the Kingdom. Princess Diana reaches a breaking point, inciting her to take matters into her own hands by breaking family protocol and publishing a book that exposes House Windsor as well as Princes Charles biggest secrets.
