Egypt’s Alexandria To Be the First to use Electric Buses in the Country!

The Alexandria Passenger Transportation Authority announced the receiving of the first electric public transport bus in June 2018. This news would make Alexandria the first city in Egypt and the Middle East to use electric buses.

According to Major General Khaled Aliywa, The chairman of Alexandria Passenger Transportation Authority, the bus is equipped with a capacity of 90 passengers, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a wheelchair for people with special needs.

Moreover, the bus would need to be charged every 3 or 4 hours to drive 250 km. However, if the air conditioner is operating, the bus would remain operating for about 210 km.

Last January, the Alexandria Passenger Transportation Authority signed a contract with the Chinese company BYD to supply 15 electric buses.

WE SAID THIS: The use of electric transit buses can greatly reduce air pollution in urban environments which considered a major concern in most major cities, nowadays.
