The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy initiated a project worth 5 billion to construct one of the largest wind farms, not only in the Middle East but also in the whole world.
The General Manager for the Renewable Energy Committee, Mohamed Al-Khayat, announced that the wind farm which will be located in Gabal el-Zeit area of the Red Sea governorate and it “comes as part of the Electricity and Energy Ministry’s plan to increase the reliance on renewable energy” according to state-owned Ahram Newspaper.
The inauguration of this wind farm will take place on Saturday, while the first stage of the project was launched in 2015. Also, it is expected by 2022 that Wind energy will have a vital role in providing energy for the country and Egypt intends to supply 20% of its generated electricity through renewable energy.
