The Dubai Police are getting a new high-tech gadget to add to their already impressive stable of patrol vehicles: the Zippi Patrol, a Segway-style, two-wheel electric bike.

“This eco-bike is fit for police work in closed and narrow places to help policemen secure the city and provide police services quickly, such as during events,” General Khamis Mattar Al Muzaina said. ”We will use it in tourist and heritage places and in busy areas.”

With a maximum speed of 20kph and an eight-hour battery life, the Zippi Patrol retails for Dh 28,000. The Dubai Police are starting with 15 vehicles for now.

“They’ll have them for a couple of weeks to see how they work,” said Jean-Paul Logiotatos, Zippi’s managing director. “Based on that trial period, they’ll decide whether they want to order some models.”

If you spot any of these on the streets, send us a snap @ScoopEmpire! We’d love to see them in action.
