You Can Celebrate Nelson Mandela’s Life at Dubai Opera with This Beautiful Show
“Our march to freedom is irreversible. We must not allow fear to stand in our way,” says the South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist, Nelson Mandela. His story is a rich canvas to behold; it has toured the globe, stopping off at Cardiff, Munich, London, Southampton, Dublin, Manchester and Birmingham, and now Cape Town’s Nelson Mandela story is coming to Dubai.
Featuring 30 performers, the Mandela Trilogy will play at Dubai Opera November 9-11, celebrating the life of the man who changed history. The play will be presented by a cast of more than 30 performers, with different actors representing three distinct phases of the man’s life. The show will focus on Mandela’s tribal initiation rites on the bank of the Mbashe River, his rebellious days in Sophiatown – with heavy jazz overtones characterising the 1950s – to his incarceration, reflection and finally freedom from Robben Island.
Mandela was famously incarcerated for 27 years before finding freedom. He passed away December 5, 2013.
