CAF’s Ultimate Team From the AFCON Group Stage Features 7 Arab Players

Whether you’re into football or not, your timelines will be flooding with football news as the most prestigious tournament of African football is taking place right now. Egypt is hosting the 32nd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations with three other Arab teams competing: Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco.

The group stage of the tournament is now over and three of the Arab teams (Egypt, Algeria, and Morocco) emerged with a perfect score of nine points, winning all their matches.

After the end of the first stage, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) assembled an ultimate team of the group stage’s best performing players. To no one’s surprise, seven of the 11 players are from the all-conquering Arab teams.

The goalkeeper is the Egyptian Mohamed El Shennawy, which makes sense since he is yet to concede a goal this tournament. The best defenders include Egyptians Ahmed Hegazy and Ahmed El Mohamady, and the Moroccan Achraf Hakimi. Best midfielders include Algerias Riyad Mahrez and Ismail Bennacer. Last but not least, the best forward is, of course, the Egyptian King Mo Salah.

Moreover, on the substitutes’ bench, three other Arab players were selected, including Algerians Youcef Atal and Youcef Belaili, and the Moroccan Mehdi Benati.

WE SAID THIS: May the best team win!
