UPDATE: Bebe to Close All Its Stores in the US but Not Egypt

Via Beverly Heights

The world is coming to an end. That must be it. There are a few things we enjoy in Egypt, and Bebe is one of them. Our favorite party dresses store is about to close its doors once and for all next month, and  we will never look glamorous again. We can’t deny that with our economic crisis this is good news or may we call it an obligatory unnecessary shopping withdrawal, but we’re so saddened nonetheless.

Bebe has been a favorite in every mall in Egypt and women can’t seem to resist its dresses, especially the famous bandage ones. According to a Bloomberg report, the chain has reportedly been suffering for the past few years from declining sales’ rates. The brand announced last month that they have been trying to avoid closing their branches after four years of losses due to competing with much more affordable stores.

We’re not quite sure where Middle Eastern and Gulf branches stand from this news, but we are assuming all branches worldwide will be closed.

UPDATE: Nadine Salama, Brand Manager of Bebe in Egypt, told us: “Bebe is indeed closing down its stores in the US, however, it will be operating through its online store. All international stores including Egypt will not be affected and will still be operating normally.”
