Another Sporting Event That Is Only for Women Just Took Place in Saudi Arabia

After having the country’s first basketball tournament for women, the same thing just happened in Saudi Arabia — only this time, it was a football tournament.

The tournament was held on the 15th of November in a private school in Jeddah. Six teams took the field, on the condition of having an all-female audience.

The kingdom took this step in order to get an official recognition from the Saudi General Sports Authority. Saudi Arabia actually had a female football team before this tournament took place. However, they were not officially recognized, despite playing a few friendly matches against other teams from the GCC.

“The comparison with other GCC countries is invalid as Saudi female players do not even possess basic skills whereas expert and specialized women, including coaches, technicians and medics, oversee the women’s teams in other Gulf countries,” said Reema Al Abdullah, coach.

WE SAID THIS: Driving license, stadium permits, basketball tournaments and now football tournaments. Look at them Saudi females go!
