As Dubai Prepares for a COVID-Free New Year’s Eve, Here Are All the Precautions You Need to Take
Every year, people from across the globe fly to Dubai to watch Burj Khalifa’s magical firework display on new year’s eve. It’s usually one of the most memorable events of the year, and every time, it becomes even more appealing and colorful. This year, however, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be some restrictions, as well as rules and regulations that attendees should follow, to safely enjoy the show.
The only way to attend or gain access to the public viewing areas and restaurants overlooking the Burj (even if you’ve booked a table) is by downloading and registering on the U by Emaar mobile application. Through this app, you’ll receive an individual QR code that offers you access to Downtown Dubai on new year’s eve. This includes Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard area, Souk Al Bahar area, Dubai Opera, and The Dubai Mall Promenade.
This year, for the first time, Emaar has also partnered with Zoom so everyone can get a chance to enjoy the spectacular fireworks show, even if they’re spending new year’s eve at home. You can register here, and watch Dubai’s new year’s eve celebrations broadcast live.
On the other hand, you can also head to The Dubai Mall to see the water-music dance of the Dubai Fountain. And since the COVID-19 pandemic spread and the lockdown were lifted in the Emirate, strict social distancing measures were implemented for people to watch the dancing fountain while staying safe.
As for the Dubai Shopping Festival’s visitors, they can enjoy some world-class entertainment on new year’s eve, as well as some great deals at malls across the city. You can also head over to the DSF Market at Al Seef presented by Al Foah to watch the Al Seef Sea Kite Show, as well as the DSF Market at Al Khawaneej, with exciting multimedia technology shows with laser, lights, sound, and video projection, and all the safety precautions are taken into consideration.
