Bored of typical dates? Whether you two are laid-back love birds or more of a wild, hyperactive couple, here are some affordable activities you can do on your first or even your 10th date:
1. Let your love bloom at Dubai Miracle Garden
Be awed by the enchanting scenery of 45 million flowers surrounding you.
Location: Outside Motor City
Cost: AED 30
2. Cool off at Ski Dubai
Skiing is a good way to interact rather than being stuck staring at each other with nothing to say. While technically not oudoors, Ski Dubai has a range of slopes and great programs and offers (try the penguin encounters!). Ice skating is also a great option, but that might require hand holding!
Location: Mall of the Emirates (Ice skating available at Dubai Mall)
Cost: Prices vary but affordable for a fun date!
3. Watch a movie under the stars
Want a movie night? Here’s a better way to do it rather than doing it the old, boring way: outdoor setting, super-comfy beanbags, hot dogs, popcorn, refreshing drinks, the stars above you, huge screen ahead of you and, most importantly, free entry! Nailed it!
Location: Rooftop Gardens, Pyramids Wafi, Oud Metha District
Cost: Free, no need for reservations
4. Let her soar at iFly Wind Tunnel
Experience life without gravity inside of a 10-meter tall wind tunnel with acrylic glass. Also not technically outdoors, but it’s something similar to a parachute jump minus the fear, just pure excitement. Safety is ensured with qualified instructors and the right amount of airflow inside the tunnel.
Location: City Centre Mirdif
Cost: UAE residents pay AED 175 instead of the standard AED 220
5. Boating in Za’abeel Park
For a simple romantic date with some na7na7a that won’t hurt, what’s better than taking your date out for a romantic walk through the park and finishing it off with a boat ride on the lake as the sun goes down. Reminds me of that scene from The Little Mermaid when prince Eric took Ariel on a boat ride through the lagoon whith the theme song “Kiss the Girl” playing behind. Told ya… I bet she’ll love it!
Location: Between Al Karama and World Trade Centre at Zabeel Square, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai
Cost: AED 5 per person
6. Play classic video games at Stereo Arcade
This place is for those born in the 80s and earlier 90s. Get a flashback of the old school vibe, songs and games. Half retro club, half rock pub, with a retro video arcade in the middle. Have a go at some classic games like Pacman, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, or move further inside to get a drink and share some great memories.
Location: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dubai, Jumeirah Beach, Dubai
Cost: Prices vary but are affordable
7. Want something intimate? Go for a spa date
Dubai is known for its great massage packages and offers, especially for couples. Enjoy some pampering for two in one of the city’s many spas. The SensAsia Urban Spa at the Emirates Golf Club offers spa treatments and lunch for two. The Club Olympus offers a chocolate body scrub and full massage to couples at the Hyatt Regency Dubai and The Raffles Spa provides couples treatments in the garden pavilion followed by champagne, chocolates and strawberries by the pool.
Location: Hotels
Cost: Price vary (offers available)
8. Fly her to the moon on a hot air balloon
Want to impress her? Take her on a one-hour hot air balloon ride and witness the UAE’s beautiful desert landscapes. Best timings are at sunset or sunrise to add to the romantic atmosphere. Most of the companies that run this kind of excursion include champagne or a light meal; if not, take your own tasty snacks.
Location: Depends on each company’s take off point.
Cost: AED 950 per person (check deals and offers at AED 699 per couple on https://www.groupon.ae/coupons/dubai/hot-air-balloon)
9. For some adrenaline, go for a motor race or karting
Get your adrenaline pumping at Dubai Autodrome. This is a fun date to break the ice and/or take the pressure off of you. It’s a new, exciting experience and a good chance to test her driving skills 😉
Location: Motor City
Cost: AED 130 per 15 minutes timed session
