Arab Americans have suffered through a lot – racism, hardships, white people’s pronunciation of falafel, but despite it all they’ve learned to laugh at their misery. Here are 10 Arab American comedians that’ll have you laughing your ass off.

 

 

Mo Amer

A personal favorite of Dave Chappelle, Mo Amer has been one of the first Arab American standup comedians on the scene. He has also starred in his special “Legally Homeless”.

 

 

Jennifer Jajeh

 

The creator and star of the one woman show “I Heart Hamas: And Other Things I’m Afraid To Tell You”. She also hosts the monthly showcase, “Ladies Room in LA”.

 

 

Tamer Kattan

 

The Muslim-Christian-Jewish comedian was the recipient of the 2015 World Series of Comedy. Along with performing stand up, Tamer is a writer and actor who has toured around Europe, Egypt and Afghanistan.

 

 

Aron Kader

 

The only Palestinian Mormon you’ll probably ever meet performs weekly shows at the Comedy Store in Hollywood. He’s made appearances on HBO, NBC and Comedy Central.

 

 

Maria Shehata

 

The Egyptian from Colombus has been featured on Comedy Central, Nuvo TV and Showtime. She won Best Comedy for her web series “My Super-Overactive Imagination” at the Miami Web Festival.

 

 

Sammy Obeid

 

The Lebanese/Palestinian/Syrian/Italian/American best known for his record breaking tour “1,001 Arabian Nights of Comedy” where he performed for 1,000 consecutive days.

 

 

Dean Obeidallah

 

Host of “The Dean Obeidallah show” on SiriusXM radio along with writing a column for The Daily Beast and contributing to CNN. Along side comedic buff Maysoon Zayid, he created the first Arab American Comedy Festival.

 

 

Maysoon Zayid

 

Maysoon Zayid has made appearances on CNN, HBO, Comedy Central, MTV, 20/20 and PBS. Aside from being a recurring columnist at The Daily Beast, she started a scholarship and wellness program for disabled and wounded refugee children called “Maysoon’s Kids”.

 

 

Nour Hadidi

 

The fresh face on the comedic scene has opened for the likes of Andy Pitz, Erin Jackson, DeAnne Smith, David Pryde and Mike Patterson. She’s also been on several tours including “Kosher Jokes for the Halaladays” in Canada.

 

 

Ahmed Ahmed

 

The Egyptian American’s career goes beyond the mic; Ahmed has gone on to produce and direct an award winning documentary that debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival. Along with being behind the scenes, Ahmed has been in front of the camera on the TBS comedy series Sullivan & Son.
