Terror in Beirut: Israeli Strikes, Hijacked Radios & Sonic Booms Push City to Breaking Point

On Monday, in what many described as the deadliest attack thus far in Lebanon since the start of the Gaza genocide, at least 492 people were killed, and at least 1,645 were injured because of Israeli airstrikes.

In the span of 24 hours, Israel hit about 1,300 Hezbollah sites in the south and east of Lebanon, including a “targeted strike” in Beirut. Along with that, the entire city of Beirut has been under a state of terror because of Israel.

Terror Through Radios

Lebanon was not only bombarded by Israeli airstrikes and air raids but also terrorized through radio broadcasts and text messages. According to Al Jazeera, Israel has been sending text messages and recordings to residents, telling them to leave Beirut and head north.

Spread Of Sonic Booms

All across Beirut, Israel has been deliberately causing sonic booms. It is extremely triggering, seeing how back in 2020, the Beirut blast took place, which devastated the entire city. Now, Beirut’s citizens are re-living the traumatic nightmare of having to be exposed to sonic booms.

“We sleep and wake up to bombardment… that’s what our life has become,” described Wafaa Ismail, a 60-year-old housewife from Zawtar, during an interview with Al Ahram.

The Difficulty Of Going North

Many citizens in Beirut are struggling to travel north, especially as flights are canceled. Many end up having to rely on going there by car, which proves to be extremely difficult. Some have to travel up to 17 hours because of extreme traffic jams stretching across motorways.

Currently, the situation in Lebanon is dire, with many citizens still stuck in Beirut, others struggling to flee, and many getting terrorized by Israel’s tactics.
