Expo 2020 Dubai has been a remarkable journey where through the various pavilions offered people from across the globe were able to meet, making this experience seem like a melting pot of sorts. Following the Expo’s end on March 31, it left us wondering what will take its place. According to Al Arabiya News, the Expo 2020 site will not be renamed District 2020 but would instead be known as Expo City Dubai during a news conference on Monday, June 20 at the Dubai Exhibition Center.
The site will be renamed “Expo City Dubai,” and will continue to host the pavilions of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Egypt among others, as stated by Al Arabiya. It also hopes to attract businesses and will be the home of the new headquarters for logistics firm DP World. The Opportunity Pavilion will reopen as the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum, focusing on the history of world expos and the city’s six-month hosting of the event as mentioned by Time Out Dubai.
Other iconic attractions, which we expect will excite many, are Al Wasl Plaza, the Garden in the Sky observation tower and the surreal water feature. Offices, leisure facilities, food and entertainment venues, sports facilities, and a mall will all be available at the site. According to Time Out Dubai, the site will be free of single-use plastics and will preserve 80 percent of the existing infrastructure and structures.
The attractions will open in stages once Expo City Dubai opens, with access costs for each pavilion.
Finally, with all the incredible pavilions set to open, we cannot forget the best part, food; all food and beverage exhibitors who were present at Expo 2020 will also be returning for Expo City Dubai.
