Designers: the backbone of any creative agency, often expected to perform miracles and alchemy, slaving late hours to meet unrealistic deadlines and even more unrealistic client demands. Often, they do – we have mad respect for designers and their craft – but the price they pay is their sanity!

1. When the client makes you change a design for the 600th time… to the first one
2. When the client chooses the worst option
3. “Make it fun” “Be creative” “Make it pop”
4. “Can you change the font and change the colors and take out that line and get rid of that section and change this to…” Just do it yourself, man
5. “Good start, though”
6. “Make it simple, but add [a million different elements]”
7. “Can you make it 3D?”
8. “Can you make it pink and purple and yellow and make the character more cartoonish, but don’t make it childish…”
9. When they give you a 30-minute deadline
10. When InDesign or Photoshop or Illustrator or Lightroom or ALL OF THEM crash… ALL THE TIME
11. When the client wants to steal someone else’s logo
12. When the client sends you a photo from a Blackberry and they want it on a billboard
13. When the client thinks Photoshop is God. “Can you make this disgusting burger look gourmet? You can do that on Photoshop, right?”
14. “Can you fit this super complicated image into a tiny tiny space, but make sure it’s readable…”
15. When your Shutterstock subscription is about to expire
