There is no debate about the number of things to do and see while traveling around Egypt. Whether you’re into history and culture, chilling by the beach, water activities, nightlife, festivals, or hiking, you’ll find a place to do it!

Of all the cool activities that you can do in Egypt, there is one beach sport that has gained much attention and popularity in the past decade, kitesurfing.

Kitesurfing or kiteboarding combines elements from wakeboarding, snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, skateboarding, and sailing into one badass action sport! A kiteboarder harnesses the power of the wind with a large controllable power kite to be propelled across the water.

Fans and players of the sport have been around in Egypt for a long time, but its popularity boomed recently with the rise of the number of kitesurfing centers and kitesurfing related events, in addition to the affordable price of the beginner’s course.

The place to head to for kiteboarding is usually Sinai, especially Ras Sudr, where there are kitesurfing centers literally everywhere. Although Ras Sudr is one of the most beautiful destinations in Egypt, you might need a long weekend to travel all the way there, with at least 3 hours from Cairo. Not to mention that you’d spend much longer than that if you’re stuck in the traffic of the Martyr Ahmed Hamdi Tunnel.

But if you don’t have enough time or energy to drive all the way there to enjoy the interesting sport, you can head to Ain El Sokhna to kiteboard! The closest beach destination to the capital now has a super cool kitesurfing center of its own; Baboon!

Sokhna is no longer going to be the quiet and chill beach destination that it used to be, you can now head there for some #BaboonBusiness! The place is the ideal destination for kiteboarding, tanning, swimming, chilling, and even partying, and it’s just one hour away.
