For most people breakfast and brunch dates are becoming an important and vital part of every weekend and are becoming a prominent part of the dining scene. What’s great about Cairo is that many of its restaurants specialize in all-day breakfast menus and many are becoming more competitive at serving up the ultimate morning spread.

So with that, it’s time to make use of the warm weather and hit up our special collection of breakfast dining spots scattered all across Cairo, from Zamalek all the way to Maadi and beyond.

Brunch & Cake

Just this winter, the Barcelona eatery that has been making huge waves in the UAE has made a special landing all the way in Cairo. This special joint boasts gastronomical creations that will make you feel as though you are in a literal fairytale. Expect everything from its relaxed beach vibe interiors to out-of-the-box dishes including their tiramisu acai bowls and their Brekkie pizza, a Neapolitan pizza with sunny-side-up eggs, smoked turkey, baby spinach, and mozzarella

Carmel

Location: Maadi

Born in California and making quite the noise for some time now is Carmel, a dining hangout spot offering delicious brekkie and lunch options. At its Maadi branch expect funky interiors of vibrant wall murals and hung illustrated plates. When it comes to the food, Carmel goes all out with an eclectic menu of bagels, eggs benedict and much more. You definitely should also not miss out on their homemade French pastry collection including their Paris Brests and eclairs .

Eatery

Eatery is the kind of dining spot that does it all, from boasting a full-on international breakfast menu of pancakes, waffles, and avocado toast to specializing in a masterfully crafted oriental breakfast. We highy recommend going for their their signature dish of a fresh and airy spread of feteer meshaltet served with honey, cheese, tomatoes, molasses and tahini.

Koffee Kulture

Location: Sheikh Zayed

Opening hours: 7:30 am – 12am

The neon-splayed, pastel-green coffee shop known infamously as Koffee Kulture has risen above the ranks as Arkan Plaza’s ultimate hotspot. When visiting the shop, make sure to grab one of their coffees served in their signature glass cans and pair it with any of their delectable breakfast items including their savory scrambled bagel or their croissants slathered in glazed pistachio.

Ralph’s German Bakery

Location: New Cairo & Sheikh Zayed

Opening hours: 7:30 am – 11:30 pm

After creating a solid fanbase from Cairenes who travel regularly to Dahab, Ralph surprised them with a new branch in Maadi as well as one in New Cairo and Sheikh Zayed. The eatery caters a specialized breakfast menu with a Bavarian twist, serving everything from Ralph’s Bavarian Farmer made of meatloaf terrine and fried eggs to sweets like their Apple Berliner and Bavarian Cherry Noodle. Oldish

Locations: Zamalek & Downtown Cairo

Exuding a rustic charm, sitting outside in this cafe will make you feel as though you are in a quaint town. Whether seated inside or outside, its decor is made up of light blue balconies and shutters set along a brick-like wall. The food is also exceptional and rich with breakfast dishes ranging from the simple scrambled eggs to the more elaborate Oriental breakfast meal made up of foul, falafel, cheese, eggs, salad, and a drink.

Ovio

Location: Maadi, New Cairo & Sheikh Zayed

Although their main menu is pretty standard, Ovio‘s breakfast menu is certainly to die for! The pancakes are, indeed, unparalleled as the breakfast spot offers a truly extensive menu with everything from salted caramel to banana pancakes. When it comes to their eggs, we’d definitely recommend their eggs Florentine made of poached eggs topped with premium smoked salmon and spinach on a toasted Artisan bread slathered in hollandaise sauce.

Andrea Mariouteya

Craving exquisite views atop a hill-top eatery? Andrea Mariouteya offers just that with panoramic views of the surrounding New Giza plateau. At this outdoor eatery, you will be served a freshly made breakfast by local feteer makers as well as all-around chefs and cooks. Expect to be served the flakiest buttery feteer paired with a huge breakfast spread of crispy round falafel, sunny-side up eggs and saucy fried eggplants accompanied by freshly baked baladi bread.

Zööba

Location: Maadi, New Cairo & Sheikh Zayed

Lokali

Imagine all your favorite local dishes but with a funky twist, that is what Lokali, the homegrown female-led eatery in Maadi is all about. Set along a fancy backyard adorned with dining tables, picnic tables and the like, the unique restaurant boasts a chill vibe while serving up a breakfast of whimsical creations. Ranging from their hummus shakshuka, manouche pizza hybrid to their Kid’s Dream pancakes served with salted caramel, popcorn, cinnamon and whipped cream. What’s great is that all its ingredients are sourced from local small Egyptian farms scattered across the country hence the name Lokali.

30 North

Locations: Zamalek, New Giza & New Cairo

Opening hours: 8am – 12am

It’s a coffee place through and through, specializing in artisanal coffee creations whether it’s their Mexican Altura or Peruvian Chancamayo. Beyond the brew, 30 North is also a great breakfast dining spot especially their Zamalek branch set within the late 80s iconic landmark ICONIA; a mixed-used building that exudes an eclectic facade that combines modern and arabesque architecture. At this special eatery, pancakes are highly recommended, especially their Oreo Nutella obsession covered in a delicious thick chocolate sauce.

With each of these breakfast spots, you will gain a different dining experience whether it’s an indulgence of rich pancakes at 30 North and Ovio or a meal packed with local flavor at restaurants like Zooba and Oldish. There are so many other cool spots to hit up for breakfast in Cairo but these were the ones we believed deserved a special mention.
