Khaled Abol Naga and Tara Emad’s ‘The Unknown Sweet Potato Seller’ Wins an International Award
Last year, we’ve reported that starlet Tara Emad and hotshot actor Khaled Abol Naga were possibly going to the Oscars. Mainly because animator/director Ahmed Roshdy’s movie, The Unknown Sweet Potato Seller, where they starred was selected as part of Dubai Film Festival (DIFF) — which basically meant they could compete for a Muhr Award. Oh, and you know what happens with Muhr winners? They’re eligible for an Oscar nomination.
A year has passed, and that sadly has not happened — however, Emad posted about the movie on Facebook, and it made our hearts fill with joy.
“The Unknown Sweet Potato Seller by Roshdy Ahmed starring Khaled Abol Naga and myself has won The Best Animated Film at the Miami Short Film Festival,” the actress announced on social media. “My heart is filled with pride to have participated in such a heartwarming and impactful film,” she added.
