Our siblings are everything to us. They are our secret keepers, sometimes betrayers, best friends, protectors, and even bullies all rolled into one. They are one of the few people that tell it to you like it is, wanting you to constantly be the best version of yourself, and they do it all while loving you unconditionally. On this National Siblings Day, we not only get sentimental with our siblings but we’ll take a trip down memory lane, fighting over the remote as we highlight our favorite Egyptian films centering around siblings.
Hob El Banat – Khaled El Hagar
One of the most quotable films out there for its relatable characters and fun plot, but what’s even more noteworthy is the sibling relationship between the sister trio: Nada, Ghada, and Roqaya. The estranged sisters come together after their father’s passing and from there we get to see their relationship truly form. Shining through their differences, their relationship is one that you’ll never get tired of revisiting.
Welad Rezk – Tarek Alarian
Nothing truly says siblings than four brothers who live for committing elaborative crimes. The Rezk sons have made us want them to succeed with their fraud because of their fabulous teamwork… representative of true brotherhood, this bond had us cheering for them even when things went haywire.
Sameer, Shaheer & Baheer – Moataz El Tony
Name a better combination than siblings and time travel, I will wait. In “Sameer, Shaheer & Baheer” we track the three brothers as they try to get their parents together as otherwise they wouldn’t be born. Through this turbulent journey, the siblings become closer, and watching their relationship flourish is a simultaneously heartwarming and humourous experience.
Keda Reda – Ahmed Nader Galal
Ahmed Helmy played the incredible, unforgettable triplets. All with one birth certificate, the brothers had to get creative with the way they managed their day-to-day lives. Due to sneakiness becoming second nature to them, they decided to take on swindling people too and maybe even falling for the same girl along the way? So different yet so in sync, this trio is one we live for every time they come on our TV.
Halet Hob – Saad Hendawy
Dynamic duo Tamer Hosny and Hany Salama were estranged brothers that gave us the right dose of drama. If you weren’t taken with this relationship, let me ask you one thing, have you seen the scene where they run in the rain together? Pure cinematic genius right there.
Al Watarr – Magdy Al Hawwary
It’s a tale as old as time, two sisters fall for the same guy and seek vengeance once they find out. This sister duo is an important addition to our list as they solidify the ugliness that siblings are bound to face together. And after all, you know what they say, the sisters that kill together, stay together.
Now that you’ve had the full rundown of our quite diverse siblings-centric film list: murder, robbery, time travel; check. You can go ahead and binge these nostalgic films with your sibling in honor of this special day.
WE SAID THIS: We often want to kill our siblings, but deep down we can’t imagine our lives without them.
