In the feel-good story of the week, a three-year-old boy in Dubai won an incredible raffle prize earlier this week after months of battling a kidney illness, Dubai Tourism announced in a press statement Wednesday.

Three-year-old Talal has spend months undergoing treatment in Dubai and India to battle a kidney condition. The boy’s father, UAE national Abdul Rahman Al Hammar, wrote Talal’s name on his raffle tickets for the 22nd edition of the Dubai Shopping Festival. For years Hammar had bought tickets, but this year he put them in his son’s name.

It seems Hammar made the right choice: on Dec. 28, the second day of the DSF, Talal’s name was chosen for the daily grand prize; the three-year-old won an Infinity QX70 and a cash prize of AED 150,000.

“It was an incredible feeling when I got to know that my son had won the DSF mega raffle,” said Hammar. “Thanks to God my son has recovered from his illness and now I consider this prize also as a gift from God for Talal, my wife and our two daughters. After all these difficult times, DSF has helped bring great joy into our lives.”

“I will save the prize money for Talal’s future,” added the boy’s father.

WE SAID THIS: We hope recovering from his illness and winning the raffle are just the beginning of a good turn in little Talal’s life!
