To celebrate the International Day of the Girl on the 9th of October, 2018, a special movement has taken place all around the world and Egypt proudly participated. To take part in the Girl Take Over international initiative, the 17-year-old Egyptian Amal Nageh has stepped into the shoes of the Head of the EU Delegation in Egypt, Ambassador Surkoš, for a full day.

“Egypt’s young population is one of the nation’s most valuable assets. Taking into consideration that the majority of the Egyptian population is young, with almost half of them females, we could realize the importance of empowering young women and girls,” said Surkoš.

Canada alongside with Plan International originally started the action in order for young girls to take over the roles of global leaders and influencers in the display of their power and potential. The global scheme is a call for a social and political revolution to tear down the barriers that continue to hold girls back. When girls have equal opportunities, they can transform their lives and communities.

WE SAID THIS: Who run the world? Girls!
