I Did Yoga and Did Not Fail
For those who know me, I usually don’t come off as a very zen person. If anything, I do not know how to disconnect or for that matter sit still for more than two minutes without doing something constructive with my time. (If you know of a Workaholics Anonymous meeting or a good shrink, holler!)
That all changed when the good people over at Oysho decided to test my attention span by bringing me to Matarma Bay – Ras Sudr for a yoga retreat.
The first thing that went through my head: “Oh hell NO! No way you’re going to get me to travel for 24 hours so I can be ‘zen’. I have more important things to do.”
Then my curious alter-ego took over and managed to convince me, “Why the hell not? You’ve never done it before, you may like it and you sure as hell can use a break!”
So I packed my bags, got on the Oysho bus to Ras Sudr without the faintest idea of what to expect, and as soon as I got there, enlightenment overtook me immediately (yes, I am being sarcastic). On a serious note, though, there are several things I did learn from my yoga experience.
1. Oysho yoga mats are super soft and during our mediation session, I actually almost fell asleep. If you wanted to, you could bring your own portable yoga mat if you feel more comfortable. I know a few people who prefer using their own equipment.
2. Yoga awakens muscles in your body that you definitely forgot existed! Hello, toning!
3. It’s hard to balance on one foot for an extended period of time! Who would have known?
4. We all have a third eye?
5. Meditation, that place between sleep and awake, is probably the coolest feeling I have ever felt.
WE SAID THIS: I think I’m actually going to get into this yoga craze! Uh-Oh…
