World’s Largest Observation Wheel in Dubai to Be Ready Next Year

Dubai is breaking architectural records on what seems to be a yearly basis. From the world’s largest tower that just got struck with lightning, the largest indoor ski hall, and the most majestic fountain show, Dubai is unstoppable. Another gigantic project is coming to life and we just can’t help but have high expectations.

UAE is currently creating the world’s largest observation wheel that will carry up to 1,400 passengers in 48 double-glazed pods. Unreal, I know!

Ain Dubai is 250 meters high, located in the center of Bluewaters island off JBR. The exclusive private island includes hotels, a retail area, a clubhouse, and residential towers.

The exact opening date has not been announced, yet multiple reports claim that by mid-2019, the capsule will be hung on the wheel and Ain Dubai will be ready for the EXPO 2020 Dubai celebration. Six capsules will have licensed bars, and some capsules will carry up to 12 passengers for a fine-dining experience. The full ride will take up to 45 minutes.

The construction process is mesmerizing to watch. 9,000 tonnes of steel has been used to create the world’s biggest wheel that weighs 10,000 tonnes, where each leg can fit up to 15 London buses. The wheel will be double the size of the first observation wheel ever constructed and it is definitely bigger than the London Eye and Las Vegas’ High Roller. Reason number 100 to add Dubai to your bucket list!
