Vodafone Brings Incubator to Egypt
Word on the street is that Vodafone Egypt is launching a EGP 20 million fund that focuses on small, web, and mobile-focused ventures, with the goal of supporting youth and innovation in Egypt.
In addition to the fund, Vodafone Egypt decided to bring their Silicon Valley incubator titled “Xone” to the Egyptian market. The incubator will be based in Vodafone’s Smart Village offices, and plans to provide 15 startups with state-of-the-art telecommunications technology, financial and legal advice, as well as hiring services, to help them scale and reach new markets.
Xone will be the 3rd entrant to the Egyptian incubator market in addition to Flat6Labs and Tahrir2.
Vodafone will provide great resources to Egyptian startups. Utilizing their mobile network and infrastructure, as well as their marketing and distribution network, Egyptian entrepreneurs now have a new player in the market in addition to VCs and accelerators to leverage experience and support from.
