VIDEO: Disney Needs to Consider Dubai-Based Singer ‘Iman Al Shaybani’ for Jasmine Role

Last week, Disney made an open casting call for their lead actors to play Aladdin and Jasmine in their newest live-action movie. Naturally, every Arab out there gave it their all for the chance to show people the world, but only one person stood out to us.

Dubai-based singer, Iman Al Shaybani, uploaded her own rendition of “A Whole New World” on YouTube last night, and oh my, we are aboard the Iman-needs-to-be-Jasmine ship. The Iraqi songstress’ voice has a Lea Salonga-feel to it, only more modern, which is why we think it absolutely works.

Disney, you need to consider Shaybani. You’re actually doing something right for once and are not going to whitewash a new movie of yours, go the extra mile as well and get yourself the right Jasmine too.
