Teen Drama: Because Family matters
As a teenager I would always chose to hang out with my girl-friends rather than hanging out with my family ; I mean I definitely love my family, but I had never appreciated their company before.
For instance, having dinner with them never sounded as fun as eating junk food and gossiping with my friends.
That all has changed now, maybe it’s because I am getting older. I don’t know, but for some reason I am starting to appreciate the little moments I spend with my family , the stupid fights with my brother or fun movie nights with my mom.
Lately, having dinner with them seems a lot more important than it used to be.
Giving back to our families is something that we don’t think much about, but seriously how difficult can it be to call our grandparents at least once a month? How difficult can it be to see what our siblings are up to especially our annoying young ones?
We are always just too busy; we don’t have time to even stop for a minute and think about our families and how much important they are to us.
Personally. I think that the idea of family reunions is a genius idea because spending some time with your family in order to share the love, care and and get to know your extended family is simply; priceless.
I am not asking you to abandon your Friends (because they are definitely your family, too)
But, I am asking you to make some time to show appreciation and gratitude to your own beloved family. Find some balance in your life; don’t compromise one relationship to win another because they are all equally important.
And, since there is no month that says love more than February, take it as an opportunity to pick up your phone, call your parents and ask them if they need anything, just to let them know that you care.
They deserve your love, time and care.
Because, at the end of the day family really matters.
We Said This: In the words of Baz Lurhmann “Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.”
