Six Crew Members Hospitalized After Explosion On Morocco’s Gladiator Sequel Set

While filming a stunt on the set of ‘Gladiator 2’ in Morocco, a huge explosion left six crew members injured. All six were rushed to the hospital after getting caught in a fire. Prominent actors including Paul Mescal were present when the incident took place in the Sahara desert.

Along with the on-set actors, many others were present with one source describing the entire incident as “terrifying — a huge ball of fire flew up and caught several crew members in its path. In years of filming, I’ve never seen an accident so scary.”

The incident truly shook up the entire cast and crew but thankfully none of the injuries were life-threatening and all the crew members concerned were “all in a stable condition and continue to receive treatment.”

When it comes to the reasons behind the fire, some sources say it could be because of a gas pipe that ruptured and it could also be due to extreme high temperatures as Morocco’s Ouarzazate is known to reach temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius.

Despite the incident, filming will continue with the expected release date to be on November 2024.
