Sawiris Plans to Commemorate Ahmed Fouad Negm by turning the artist’s Home Into a Museum
Founder of the Ahmed Fouad Negm Colloquial Poetry Award and Egyptian mogul, Naguib Sawiris, announced plans to turn the late poet’s, Ahmed Fouad Negm, house into a museum. Sawiris described founding the Negm Poetry Award as one of his best achievements while attending an event at the American University in Cairo on Tuesday.
The business tycoon, as well as the poet’s daughter, Nawara Negm, asked for those who have pictures or handwritten poems by Negm to place them in the museum.
The award founder considers Negm a national figure and decided to use the house after the late poet’s last wife, Umm Zaynab, put the house for sale online.
According to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Sawiris Foundation for Social Development will hold a meeting to discuss the executive steps required for such a cultural preservative decision.
