Protests in Iran broke out this week as a reaction to its supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei decision to cut fuel subsidies on gasoline. According to Washington Post, the abrupt decision was announced last Friday where the supreme leader said in a television address that he supports the measure to push up gasoline prices and ration supplies, a move designed to raise funds for cash handouts to the poor.
