Peace One Day Festival This Saturday In Cairo
Peace One Day Festival!
This Saturday, September 21st the international community will be celebrating the International Day of Peace. An initiative that dates back to 1999, Peace One Day aims to promote peace across the globe through alliances and partnerships with governments, civil society, religious groups and youth organizations. In 2012, according to a McKinsey report, 280 million people were aware of Peace Day. This year, the organizers are hoping to reach over 600 million people worldwide – and you should be one of them!
CISV and Darb 1718 are joining forces to bring Peace One Day to Cairo! The festival will take place in Darb 1718 from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and will include a musical line up of some of Cairo’s greatest talent, a bazaar, an NGO fair, free yoga classes, and educational games for the whole family. Not only is this a fun way to spend your Saturday, it is a chance for us to come together as a community and celebrate the one thing our country needs more than ever – peace.
“By working together, we can institutionalize peace day, making it a day that is self-sustaining – a day when fewer children are bullied, fewer women are hit and fewer guns are fired.”
– Jeremy Giller, Peace One Day Founder
