More than 700 Pilgrims Killed in Stampede During Hajj
A stampede has killed over 700 people, and injured 800 others in Minna, the tent city located around 2 miles from Mecca. The stampede happened during one of the last rituals of the Hajj season, where pilgrims symbolically stone the devil.
According to a source in Minna, the stampede was caused by too many pilgrims trying to enter an official camp, and getting pushed back by the police.
The roads have been closed, pilgrims are now taking the journey on foot.
We send out our deepest condolences to the families of those passed, and those injured, and hope for a safe remainder of the season.
WE SAID THIS: May their souls rest in peace.
