Mommy Diaries: All The Way From Gouna

0

I’m writing this post by the pool of my hotel, a few hundred kilometers away from my two littles, and I could not be any happier.  I miss them of course, but not enough to go home. At least not yet.

Vacations are a necessity. It’s trips like these that make you love your life even more. We get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of our lives. We get so busy with our drop-offs and pickups that it seems like our kids are all we have. And in a way, that’s true. But in reality there’s so much more to life than diaper changes and nursery drop offs. Vacations make me a better mom. Knowing that my kids are safe and sound with their grandmother also helps.

Today for the first time since 2009 I slept in, uninterrupted. I woke up at 10 am, guilt free and relaxed. It was incredible. What more could a girl want? I love my girls more than anything, but sometimes getting away for a while makes me a better mom. I’m less stressed, I have more patience, and missing your kids is an awesome feeling. I look forward to seeing them rather than dreading the 6 am screams: MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY.

So mama’s you know what to do. Pack the kids up, send them to the nearest grandparent and get going. Go, lie in the sun and turn your phone off.  You’ll come back a whole new mama with a banging tan.
