Fanan Al Arab Mohamed Abdo ‘Respects’ Shaabi Music
Most of us have a love-hate relationship with electro shaabi music, Fanan Al Arab/Saudi singer Mohamed Abdo on the other hand straight up loves it.
Earlier this week, he spoke to TV host Wael Elebrashy, and the legendary singer said, “I follow this kind of music, and I respect it, because it stems from the suffering of the poor. It is not singing but more like musical monologues. This type is similar to the words that were sung by Shokoko.”
Abdo also had words for Amr Diab, saying that he is not a “vocalist,” but a singer with a “sound voice,” a fact that El Hadaba himself acknowledges.
