Ministry of Social Solidarity Opens First Rehab in Marsa Matruh

Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity just announced the opening of Matrouh Governorate’s first addiction rehab center. Minister Ghada Abdel Wali stated that the launch of ElAzima Center is only the beginning of a series of rehab centers across multiple governorates.

Wali further added that addiction is a source of violence and social violations, which affects productivity and the economy. Magdy El Gharabli, Matrouh’s Governor, explained that Egypt is on a mission to combat addiction by providing all necessary means of rehabilitation for addicts in terms of health, economy, psychology, and social status.

The recent development cost EGP 9m and is located on an area of ​​7,000 square meters. The rehab includes 27 chalets with 108 beds, as well as an administrative building, restaurant, computer center, library, meeting room, football stadium ,and a gym.
