Meet Sarah Rivens: The Algerian Author Whose Book Outsold Prince Harry’s Spare In Paris

A lot of us may not know much about Sarah Rivens. We do know that she signs her books under the name of Sarah Rivens, not her real name and that she has achieved enormous success with her book series dubbed “Captive”.

It all started back in 2019 when the Algerian writer dove into the literary world by publishing her very first series in an online writing platform known as Wattpad. The series chronicles a dark romance between Ella, a girl who is part of a criminal network who falls for Ash, the charismatic leader of the Scott network.

The moment Rivens released the series on Wattpad, under the nickname “bluegirl”, that is when she garnered immense success, especially when people started talking about her work on Tiktok under the hashtag #captivewattpad. Overtime she was able to attract an audience of 9 million readers. From there, a publishing house by the name of Hlab noticed her work and ended up signing Rivens to complete the next volumes of her “Captive” series.

Her “Captive” trilogy ended up getting translated into 9 languages and achieved great commercial success selling over 350,000 copies. Her shoot to stardom arrived in early 2023 when she ended up becoming the number one best selling author in all of France, outselling Prince Harry’s infamous memoir “Spare”.
